Extra! Extra!

It's been a while. I always put off blogging because 'nothing exciting has happened' and then I start to think about it and all sorts of things are happening.

After two weeks in Sunbeams I was released (seriously that bad:) and put into the new primary presidency. Zach got called to be a Scout leader and wore his old scout uniform the other night and I might have made fun of him a little bit....Not because scouting is silly or anything, I just have never seen him wear it and it reminds me of the boys I chased when I was 12.

Canyon is transforming into my stubborn 3 year old. I remember last year I mentioned that Canyon hadn't ever really hit the terrible twos and a friend said just wait. She explained that boys often hit that stage at the ripe old age of 3. She called it. We have fun and he's a good kid but boy do we work through a lot of crying and fits....hopefully it doesn't last too long.

My in home daycare is doing very well. The last two weeks I've averaged 4 three year olds and a 7 month for the majority of every day. We have hard days but for the most part we all have a blast.

Not much else is happening here at the Hawkins' home except maybe a little of this...

Don't worry, I don't let the kids climb up here. After the kids went home today I took a bathroom break and came back to my little climber:)

Canyon Man is 3!!

To celebrate the little man's third birthday we had a Buzz Lightyear/Toy Story party. Thank heavens my mom made it to town for the party, she has a knack for helping me bring to life all the things I envision and more. I designed the invites and sent them out a few weeks before the party.
I'm not much of a graphic designer but I super love how it turned out. Free is always the best:)

The week before Canyon's party I got a surprising call in my church. Being in a brand new primary presidency really put the stress on. I was not excited for that week and I was ready for it to be over. This is where my mom swooped in and saved my tail. She kept me going and came up with such cute ideas, not to mention helped me put together cute things for primary duties. The party went off without a hitch, thankfully. It was so fun to see friends and family and Canyon had such a good time. My favorite was his fear of the candles. He didn't want to get close enough to them to blow them out. He kept saying "Mom, they're dangerous!" Oops, maybe I've made him a little too cautious;) Getting pictures didn't turn out great. Three year olds don't stop moving and I think my camera was on the wrong setting. We did get a few good ones.

Hard Day

Yep, today was one of them. You know what I did? I said, "You may want to be hard but I'm gonna make you soft." You're probably thinking, "Bailee, That makes NO sense!" Nope it doesn't. That's what I did. I decided to make it a silly day and just have fun with the crazies that come with being a mom.

It's not hard any more. Just fun;)

Where do you pee?

Probably in the toilet (or at least I hope so). You men are lucky enough to have a little bit of a broader answer to that but still, it's usually in the porcelain feature found in most bathrooms across America.

Today Canyon has peed in the cars toilet, the guest bedroom behind the pack'n'play and in the playroom (hint: the last two were accidents).

Toilets are common but to an almost-three-year-old they can be quite perplexing. Here's to all of us getting past this somewhat scary chapter in the Raising of Canyon Walker Hawkins book. I'm hoping it's a two-pager.

To convince C that wearing underwear is AWESOME we wore them on our heads as well as on his bum. Please excuse one of the worst pictures of me known to man, it's all for the cause.

First small project of the new year

Nothing is better than a hubbs that sees those girly "I-want-a-serger" posts on Facebook and delivers one for Christmas. Being intimidated by the complexity of my new homemaking treasure, I haven't even really touched it since getting it out of the box. Tonight I decided it was time to thread it and make a pillow to practice. After twenty minutes of threading (I did it!) it took a whole three to sew the pillow. I must say I drooled over the clean seams:) I'm in the slow process of decorating our master bedroom. Still in search for an affordable head board and bed linens, I thought this could be my inspiration piece.

I can't tell you how excited I am to do some more house projects with this baby. I have a whole list I want to get done before the summer! Here's to a year of getting more fit and enjoying the sweet hum of a new over-lock machine.

I'm in LOVE

My sis in law, Angela decided that for Christmas they were going to pay for a photo family session. Picture taking is challenging with the little ones but I think we got some real gems. Thanks for the Christmas present Angela and Treavor! Oh and a big shout out to the photog, Heather Bliss. I love that girl. Angela is lucky to have her as a sister:)

Sometimes we're a little on the crazy side...only sometimes.

^ And this my friends is my favorite. It is being printed and hung in our room pronto...

(my second favorite^^)

This little man has been letting his big personality show much more lately. It's so fun to capture his silly antics on a big camera!

Temple Lights and Trains

I'd like to say that I'm on top of things. I'm not. So when Zach and I were on our awesome anniversary getaway we decided to check the Disney store for the last gift we needed to get for Canyon. They had it but we didn't want to have to lug it around for the rest of the night so we decided to buy it later at the Disney store closer to home.

Fast forward a few days, they didn't have it. I called the one in Salt Lake and they were all sold out too. Darn. Then we decided on a different gift and the only store that had one in stock was in Salt Lake. Phew.

We headed up to the "big city" as Canyon would have put it. City Creek Center was packed but oh so beautiful. I'm excited to say we decided to make a night of the trip. After picking up the mystery Christmas gift (which I was able to keep miraculously hidden from C all night long despite it's large girth) we had a little dinner in the food court and walked to Temple Square. Canyon LOVED all the lights but the funny thing is he loved the water features even more. Guess the little man might follow in his daddy's footsteps and design water parks.

(poor quality but look at his face! I love it!!)

While we were walking around Canyon spotted the TRAX trains. If you know my son you know he has a slight obsession with that form of transportation. We were walking back to our car and we had to cross in a crosswalk that led us right over the tracks. C was up on Zach's shoulders and sweetly said, "Dad, Can we please please please ride the train? Please please please?" Now how do you say no to such a sweet request. We bought two tickets (My school ID get's me on free) and rode the train for a while. That little boy was in heaven. I don't know if I'll ever see him happier than he was during that train ride.

(the only reason he's not smiling like a crazy man right here is because he's not thrilled that I want him to look at the camera when all he really wants to do is look out the window as the train flies by all the cars and buildings:)

I love date night with my boys. Let's just see how Christmas morning goes:) I think it'll be a Christmas to remember.
